SIG Neuhausen SP 47/8 “Target”

SIG Neuhausen SP 47/8 “Target”, 9x19mm
The SP 47/8 “Target” is the predecessor of the P210-5, and this one was manufactured in 1953. The engravings on the frame indicate that it was the grand prize in a Swedish shooting contest, and awarded to Åke Halvardson in 1959. We have no specific information on him, but we have reason to believe that he was an officer serving at the 13th Air Force wing in Norrköping, Sweden.
This pistol is in excellent mechanical condition, with the slick action and crisp trigger you can expect in a SIG Neuhausen made pistol. The slide is glass smooth, the bore is bright and there are no signs of excessive wear. As is common with these pistols, the frosted finish on the frame is thinning and shows some scuffs and high edge wear. The high polish bluing on the slide is in very good condition, with some minor wear on the muzzle end. The special spanner wrench for the front sight assembly is included.
This SP 47/8 would make a very accurate pistol for serious target shooting, and it is also highly collectible as one of the early SIG target pistols!
