Tula Mosin-Nagant 91/30 ”PU” sniper rifle, 7.62×54mmR

The Russian Mosin-Nagant sniper rifles were built on standard rifles that were handpicked for accuracy. Most of them were equipped with the fixed 3.5 power PU type scope, which is why these rifles are often referred to as “PU snipers”. The scope was attached to the rifle with a detachable mount, which allowed the soldier to remove and reinstall the scope for transportation or cleaning, without losing zero.

This hex receiver rifle was made in 1936 and shows all the signs of being a genuine sniper rifle. The bolt has the correct factory bent handle and the numbers on the bolt match the receiver. The scope has very clear lenses, and the stock has the correct factory type cut for the scope mount. The magazine bottom is arsenal renumbered, and some small parts are Izhevsk manufacture. The stock is very clean and crisp, and still shows arsenal markings.

Most of the Mosin-Nagant sniper rifles you find are post war creations, usually identified by the use of aftermarket scopes/mount combos, sloppy stock cuts, mismatched parts and aftermarket bolt handles that are either welded or screwed to the bolt. However, this one appears to be genuine, and it’s in excellent condition as well.
