MAC 1935S, 7.65×20 Longue
The MAC 1935S is a rugged service pistol produced by several French manufacturers between 1937 and 1956. It was used in the French military, and saw widespread use in different conflicts. Many were left in Indochina after the war, and ended up with Vietnamese troops.
This pistol was made by MAC (Manufacture Nationale d’Armes de Chatellerault), which manufactured them between 1946 and 1956. Most of these are found with a phosphate rearsenal finish and import markings, but this one still has the factory blued finish with temper colored extractor and hammer and no import mark. It has some wear from normal use, but doesn’t show any signs of abuse and the grips show none of the cracks and warpage you often find. The bore is near perfect, and the action feels very solid. These guns were frequently encountered by US troops in Vietnam, so the original finish and the lack and import mark could indicate that it is a war trophy.
The MAC 1935S is getting difficult to find in all original condition, so this is a great opportunity to add this fine example to your collection of French or Vietnam era firearms!
