Harrington & Richardson Self Loader – SOLD

$450.00

Harrington & Richardson Self Loader, .32 ACP.

The Self Loader series of pistols started out as license built copies of the Webley Self-Loading Pistol. The sales were poor, so the design was soon improved to better suit the American market. The most visible differences are that H&R changed from external hammer to an internal striker, and opened up the top of the slide to eliminate ejection problems. Some other changes included improvements to the safety system, including the addition of a grip safety. Only about 40,000 pistols were made between 1914 and 1924.

The Self Loader was still listed in H&R’s 1939 catalog, 15 years after production ceased, which shows that the sales were still very poor despite the improvements. Due to the size and caliber, most of these pistols were worn out as shooters and “tackle box guns”, so you rarely find them as nice as this one. A very nice example of a relatively scarce pistol.

C&R eligible. SOLD
