East German 1001-0 rig, .32 ACP
The 1001-0 pistol is somewhat of an enigma. Officially, it didn’t exist and in true com-bloc fashion it was given a nondescript model designation to hide its origin. In reality, it was a direct copy of the Walther PP, and in the early post-war years it was built on left-over parts from the captured Zella-Mehlis factory. As production progressed, new parts were made on captured German manufacturing equipment, still making the 1001-0 an identical copy of the Walther PP.
The history of the 1001-0 is, like everything else from the east side of the iron curtain, clouded in mystery. However, it has been assumed that the 1001-0 pistols were widely used by the STASI due to their high quality, and their immediate availability directly after WWII.
This 1001-0 is in excellent condition, and more interestingly: It comes with the rarely seen East German shoulder holster. This is very similar to the East German Makarov shoulder holster rigs, but with a leather holster that will only fit the 1001-0 pistols. This is actually the only complete 1001-0 rig we have ever seen. It’s in excellent condition, and the only distraction is a missing rivet. Otherwise it’s in excellent condition, exactly as issued to the East German police.
A truly unique piece unique piece of cold war history!
