These are the BEST grips (let alone reproduction) that I have ever seen. They fit perfectly on my 1964 python and the craftsmanship is seriously second to none that I have seen. Communication excellent! Great customer service! I have ordered these and a set of 3rd Gen python stocks and they just fit and look outstanding! If you want to see your Python POP, get a set of Olof’s stocks. No disappointments whatsoever. If I could give 6 stars I would. I won’t hesitate to order again.
Paul Centeno –
These grips are without a doubt the virtual equal of factory python grips (including the same grip screw/nut and medallion). If you have a python with somewhat ratty looking grips, don’t haunt the gun auction sites hoping in vain to find some safe queen grips. You will be disappointed every time at twice the price. Olof’s grips are far, far superior to any of the new production factory style grips offered by other manufacturers, I know, I’ve tried them. The checkering stands a little proud just like the original, the finish is exactly like the original, and the fit is phenomenal. I have a few sets of the 2nd gen and of the 3rd gen grips and all are perfect. Matching grain on both sides unlike my original grips. Also these grips fit an Officer’s Model Match perfectly. Olof is a square dealing kind of guy, service is great, you can deal with him in total confidence. It is a no brainer, Enjoy!
Chris –
Best reproduction stocks available on the market. Nice sharp checkering, great fit and finish. Purchased several pairs and different styles. Thanks Olof.
Niklas –
Outstanding quality. It fits a lot (!) better than the original from Colt. Thanks a lot.
George Jr. –
Mounted a set of Olof’s Burl Walnut Grips on a 1966 Colt Officer’s Model .22, they completely transformed the piece. No adjustments were required, everything lined up perfectly, much better fit than the originals. Look out Squirrels!
Mike Wyett –
Seriously nice grips, fit was perfect. Worth the money and much better grips than the stock grips on the 2020 Python.
Tony –
I got my grips yesterday, which was quicker than expected. I can honestly say these Python grips are as close to perfection as I can imagine. Definitely better than OEM.
Kastler Raimund –
Competent and extremely friendly communication from Deer Hollow Enterprises all through the ordering process.
The wood used for the grips is beautiful, the craftsmanship superb and they fit like a glove on the gun. From appearance they resemble the originals absolutely, just that the quality of the ones from Deer Hollow Enterprises is superior. There were no adjustments needed. This is more than absolute value for money. These grips add value to the revolver
Jeff Wright –
Beautiful stocks, fit perfectly.
Lou Pietronave –

Joe Roy –
Excellent quality grips. Installed a set on a new generation 2020 Python. I was vary satisfied. Fitts the backstrap nicely. Gets rid of that squared off feel of the factory grips. Much nicer wood than the factory grips.
Mark Ceranski –
WOW! These grips are unquestionably, a true work of art. Excellent quality and made by a craftsman. Pretty grain, flawless checkering, great finish too. What more could you want? Olof answered all the questions I had, and I knew I would like them even before they arrived! Yes, they are maybe a bit spendy for some (like me), but you absolutely get what you pay for. Do yourself a favor and order a set for your Python.
Thanks Olof.

I did a lot of research to find the best (and correct) grips for my 1967 Python. A lot of fakes out their trying to pass for OEM and a lot of poor quality reproductions. Grips from Deer Hollow THE BEST. I am 100% satisfied and I am very particular when it come to making my guns exactly like I want them.
Not only are they top quality, they are a work of art.
Brad –
What quality!! The fit and finish is unbelievable. I could not be more satisfied with my purchase. Would not hesitate to purchase grips in the future.
WALTER KOPACZ –
I can attest to all the positive reviews. I am not a reproduction parts buyer or user, I’ll go without. However after reading all the stellar reviews, I had to try one out … I received it, was floored by the careful packing, and beauty of the craftsmanship, with an eye for exactness. They ARE better than the originals, trust me. I put it on my pistol and it went on tight, no alterations needed. The look, feel and function were so perfect … I bought two more (1st GEN) ! I still will not do reproductions, however, this is one exception, I’m happy to make and very proud to show off. You will not regret buying this product, I am so happy I came across this site. Thanks man, you’re the best in the business for Colt Grips.

I ordered two sets of grips for my Colt 4″ and 6″ Python. They truly look and feel as good as the factory grips. Thank you Deer Hollow for your attention to detail.
Ray –
WOW Excellent craftmanship, nice deep checkering, high quality dark walnut. Can not tell the difference between these and the original grips. They look exactly the same as the grips on my wife’s 2nd generation python. My right grip had damage and the left was worn so I decided to replace them.
J B Smith –
In my 50+ years of collecting and shooting handguns from various manufacturers, I have never seen a pair of aftermarket grips fit so perfectly! The wood to metal fit is unbelievably precise. These grips fit every bit as good as Colt grips did back in the day, if not better!
Tim B. –
I own many guns and have bought many aftermarket grips from different places and I can say that these are the finest wood grips I have ever bought. I have a new python and the factory grips were too thin especially in the rear where your palm absorbs the recoil. These grips are thicker like the Colt grips on the older Pythons. Much more comfortable in the hand. The checkering is also nice and sharp and aggressive which further helps to abosrb recoil and I like the way the checkering stands out above the grip rather than being recessed in. I do a lot of shooting and also dry firing at home and these grips fit the hand much better than the OEM grips on the new Pythons. The wood seems to be tougher and more durable than the OEM grips too. And the color is absolutely gorgeous. The various tints of the grain show themselves nicely in the light.
Tyler –
These grips are beautiful. Perfect fit and feel great while shooting.
Got these for my 2020 Python and ordered another set for my new Anaconda.
I’m going to have to keep buying more Colts just so I can keep buying more of these grips. Thank you Olof
Jim –
Just got my Python grips and I am stunned. The seams are tight and sharp, but the most amazing thing is how you mated up exact mirror image grain lines from two different pieces of wood so they came together in perfect matching V’s of wood grain on the bottom of the grip. The screw holes are precise and the screws fit the holes like a glove…….and when you snug up the screw on the gun the screw is the perfect length! It’s the little things that make the difference. Oh,….and the screws are the correct type just like the originals. Once again the little details that make the difference.

I received my 2nd gen Python Grips today. They were packed well and sent quickly. Lots of people talk a good talk on their products and I am familiar with that, but I was unprepared for the pristine (and to my eye) flawless pair I received. I have owned a half dozen Pythons, each with good grips, so my experience with them is not that of a novice. Thank you for backing your “talk” with an impressive “walk”! My intention is to become a repeat customer and soon upgrade a couple more.
Fred –
Received these the other day and immediately installed them on my newer 6″ Python and went to the range and wowza what a difference. The OEM grips are ok but these just blow them out of the water via looks AND function. Installation was a breeze. It’s safe to say I’m quite happy with my purchase and look forward to being a repeat customer very soon. Also of note, USPS lost the first pair sent out and Olof was on top of it making sure I ended up with my grips. Class act. Thanks!
Jeff Keller –
Absolutely superb fit! Incredible fast and secure shipping too. Worry free install and great communication with Olof. On the fence about grip investment for your heirloom? Let Olof help you restore your Classic to better than New condition!
Henny –
Ordered a set of 2nd gen grips for my 1970 4″ Python. These are awesome! Fit is perfect, no gaps. Craftsmanship is excellent. True to the originals in every way. Quick shipping. I’m couldn’t be more pleased. Thanks !!!!
Tom –
Wanted nice quality reproductions to replace the factory grips on my 2020 Pythons (stainless and blued). I ordered the 2nd generation 1961-1973. The factory grips are too thin for my taste and I wanted something the was bit more “hand-filling”. These grips went on without any hiccups – (read the article Olof wrote on fitting grips), the grips fit perfectly no movement, wobble or shifting. They went on as if they were fitted specifically to each gun. The grips are thicker than the factory ones which was what I wanted. Shipping was fast, price was fair. Colt should have done better with the new Python, same with the awful rear sight but thanks to Deer Hallow and Wilson Combat that has been remedied. I would highly recommend Deer Hollow and I hope they can start making grips for Colt SAA’s and Smith and Wesson in the future.
Dave Sheehan –
Amazing..I got these for my 2021

Carmelotorres –
If it was just about perfect, they look great. Great option for my 2023 3 inch elite I put the bigger GEN 2 They look awesome
Kirk Neely –
The generation 2 grips fit perfectly on my new 4.25” blue Python. No adjustment was required. They made a pretty revolver a gorgeous revolver. Attention to detail is incredible. Fast shipping too. I plan to get another set for my 1980 Python. Five stars without question.
Andrew Yerry –
I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of these grips. If there is a negative, it’s that the originals grips were not close to this nice.
Jeff Donnell –
This is the second set I’ve ordered from Olof and they are absolutely the best! I have original Colt Python grips too but these are better. They fit better, they look better and they feel better. This particular set went on a new blue 4″ Python and they are stunning. Fit was flawless. I’m a little bit of a grip snob but I really cannot find anything to criticize here, much as I might like to. This won’t be the last set I order!

I recently purchased a 2024 six inch barrel blued steel python but was not impressed with the factory grips. I bought a set of these grips as soon as I was notified they were in stock. They arrived within a few days of ordering, and all I can say is “WOW”. These grips are absolutely stunning and dramatically improved the image of the gun. The fit and finish is second to none. If anyone thinks these grips are too pricey, just remember, you get what you pay for. I’m going to order a set for my 1986 brite stainless Python, even though that gun came with the rubber grips instead of wooden ones. The heck with keeping the gun original, I want it to look pretty! (I wish Olof would make the old time Smith & Wesson “Coke Bottle” N frame grips).
Jim –
I received my Python Generation 2 presentation grips recently. I am totally impressed by the beauty, fit and finish of these grips. The quality is outstanding and way beyond my expectations. They were not inexpensive but the craftsmanship and attention to detail is well worth the expense.
Thank you providing such an outstanding product for the Colt community. I will certainly be a repeat customer in the future.

So I set about to purchase a 2020 Python in blue, partly because the vintage guns were so much more expensive, but also because–having owned Colts for years–it is harder and harder to find someone who can work on them, and they do get out of time easier than a comparable Smith.
In any case, I plunked down my $1500 for a New 4.25 Python, and was immediately disappointed in the grips and the rear sight. Hell, most new Python purchasers are disappointed with the grips and the rear sight.
Wilson Combat makes a rear sight replacement, but the grips? The factory grips, which I understand are made by Altamont, are good quality, fit well, and look attractive. But, for old guys like me, it just doesn’t, um, “look” like a Python. And, let’s just say that OEM grips from a vintage Python that you would want to put on your new gun are unobtainium. That leaves vintage grips for $300 or so that are worn–and you don’t want to put worn grips on your new, shiny blued Colt gun. The ONLY option is aftermarket grips. And like most guns folks, I have seen guys pay $1,000 for a rifle and put a $200 Chinesium optic on it. You don’t want to be “that guy” with grips for your new Python.
These grips by Deer Hollow are the ONLY way to go with a new Python, or even a vintage one that needs new grips. Sure, you could buy Altamont or Hogue, but they do not provide the factory original look that I wanted. And the cheap, $75 Chinese reproductions don’t fit for shit, and don’t look good either. These grips from Deer Hollow, on the other hand, rival vintage Python OEM grips for fit, finish, and workmanship.
They are worth every penny. If you have a new Python you should be ripping your pocket off your pants to get your checkbook out fast enough to buy a set of these grips while they are in stock. When I originally decided to buy them, they were “out of stock.” Fortunately that did not last long, but you should get them while you can.
I guess you could say I am a satisfied customer.
Too bad, though, they are not accepting restoration projects. If they do restorations like they do vintage grip reproductions, I could keep them busy just with MY guns for a few months.

I recently purchased my first Colt Python, the revolver is in outstanding condition, the grips needed attention. After researching and reading a number of reviews on line, I spoke with Olof who informed me he had a release of grips becoming available soon. Within 2-3 business days I was notified the grips for my 1971 Python were available and I had them on my revolver within the week. Truely outstanding.
The communication with Olof, fit, quality and appearance of the Deer Hollow grips are all 5 stars!
I could not be happier and highly recommend Deer Hollow Enterprises.
Thank you again Olof!
