Ballester-Molina – SOLD

Ballester-Molina, .45 Acp

The Ballester-Molina was developed in the 30’s, as part of an attempt to establish an all-Argentine weapons industry. Its appearance is very similar to the Colt 1911 and DGFM Sistema-Colt, but the design is based on the Spanish Star B series. Notable features include the typical Star lockwork and the fixed mainspring housing, which both made it possible to produce the Ballester-Molina at less cost than the 1911 design.

This gun is an early import without import stamp, numbers matching, in very good condition and very sound mechanically. The original bluing is still fairly strong, and the factory grips are in near perfect condition. These guns were imported in large numbers and sold as low cost surplus, so most of them have been beat up as shooters or “glove box guns”. This makes them hard to find in this condition, especially without a “resale reblue” and import stamp. This gun is a very collectible example of a pistol with an interesting history.
