1942 Colt Commando, military issue
$1,500.00
Colt Commando, 38 Spl
An absolutely stunning Colt Commando made in 1942, one of 300 delivered to the Massachusetts National Guard during WWII. According to “US Handguns of World War II – The Secondary Pistols and Revolvers” by Charles Pate, only 150 of these were marked “MASS” on the grip frame.
This gun appears to be unissued. The period correct manganese Parkerizing shows some minor handling and storage scuffs, but there are no signs of actual use. The proof stamps are clearly applied after the Parkerizing, which shows that the finish is 100% factory original. The whole gun is extremely clean and crisp, and the total lack of powder/lead residue around the forcing cone makes us believe that it has never been shot since it was factory test fired in 1942.
It’s simply as nice as you will ever find a military issue Colt Commando!
