1943 Lithgow SMLE Mk III*
$875.00
Lithgow SMLE Mk III*, .303 British
This SMLE was made in 1943 by Lithgow Small Arms Factory in Australia, so it was more than likely used by Australian troops in the Pacific theater during WWII. It’s numbers matching and is not import marked, apparently an early import or possibly a WWII bring back. The stock is dated 1944 and could be either factory original or a wartime replacement. The action is very smooth, and the bore is shiny with sharp rifling and dark grooves.
The Lee-Enfield rifles were extremely rugged and usually saw service for a very long time, so it’s unusual to find them in clean and undamaged condition like this. Nice enough to collect, and reliable enough to shoot!
