Walther P4, 9×19 mm

The P4 was a development of the P38/P1 pistol, and it addressed some of the issues with the original design. The barrel was shortened by an inch to improve handling, but the most significant changes were to the slide. The original top cover was known to come loose and fly off together with the rear sight, so the P4 slide was made with a closed top and a rear sight secured by a screw. Also, the decocker/safety was changed to decocker only, and the hammer spur was shortened.

At the time of these changes, Walther was already working on the successor P5 so the P4 was short lived with a total production of less than 8000 pistols. This makes it a rather scarce variation that would fit in any serious Walther collection. – SOLD
