Chinese Shanxi Broomhandle copy, .45 ACP

The Shanxi (or Shansei) pistols were developed in the early 1900s for Chinese warlord Yen Hsi-shan, who wanted his soldiers to have more firepower than the Mauser C96 could deliver. It is basically an enlarged version of the C96, so it can be operated and disassembled exactly the same way as the C96. The original Shanxi pistols are extremely rare, and this is a later copy that the Chinese produced in limited numbers for the US market. These were made in the ’70s or ’80s, and have now become highly collectible due to their scarcity.

This particular example is in excellent condition, the bore is bright and it appears to have been fired very little. The workmanship is rather crude with rough machining and an unpolished finish, and the internals don’t show the finesse of its German counterpart. This is a behemoth of a gun, and an interesting collectible for those who are interested in Broomhandles, Chinese firearms or unusual firearms in general. It appears to be fully functional, but for liability reasons we are selling it as unsafe to fire.

Since we are unsure of the year of manufacture, we cannot ship this gun to C&R holders. – SOLD
